New York Times called him “fashion’s gentle revolutionary.” We must agree. Edward Enninful, now W Magazine’s Creative Fashion Director, has worked with fashion’s most dynamic and powerful characters. From Grace Coddington to Naomi Campbell and Steven Meisel to Donatella Versace, Enninful has proved that fashion is indeed a battlefield that can be conquered with chic tailored dark suits and bringing to the forefront what many would not consider “classic beauty.”He is youthful and brings something new and exciting to a field dominated by decades old fashion houses and equally old boys and girls (Karl Lagerfeld, anyone?)
The Ghanaian-born stylist who has lived in England for most of his 34 years began modeling at 15. He became the youngest style director in fashion’s history when he took on the position of Fashion Director at I-D Magazine when he was only 18. With veritable but gentle force, Enninful set a standard for incorporating beauty and art into fashion magazines, when it was non-existent before. From there, Enninful has continued with massive success to rejuvenate the once unknown magazine to a fashion bible for those who appreciate visual art, underground yet talented young designers and diverse African beauty.
