Who: Arao Ameny

What: Ugandan- born freelance journalist Ameny is an example of putting action behind thought. Her journalistic work with Sahara Reporters, Catalysta, and the Muslim Community Report has made her an authority on reporting and distributing stories in the African community. Dedicated and passionate Ameny’s work gives a platform to community leaders and members whose voices would otherwise go unheard. Her budding initiative the tentatively titled Association of African Journalists and Writers  seeks to unite, support, and promote the work of African journalists and writers in the New York area.
